Phil Carlino, CEO, Fremont Coin Co., Inc.
Phil Carlino grew up in the United States Navy;
in 1956 Phil started in coins as a kid in Buffalo,
New
York, where he owned and operated his first
coin shop.
His love for coins drew him into the coin business
full-time where he's been for over
50 years.
Phil's been operating
Fremont Coin Co., Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada ever since.
He's a prominent coin dealer, known from coast-to-coast
for his smooth diplomacy. A popular radio talk-show
host,
coin collectors tuned in weekly to listen to
Phil
and his guests discuss coins...
the GREATEST hobby in
the world! In the 1960's, you could literally buy as many
silver
dollar bags as you could afford at that time in Nevada!
They were trading at $1,050 to $1,100 per original bag
of common dates in BU condition.
Even original bags of
"CC's" were only $1,800 to $2,000 per bag. The largest
supplier at that time was Phil Carlino, founder of
Fremont Coin Co., Inc. Most recently, Phil Carlino--representing the Las Vegas
Numismatic Society (of which he is the Past President)--was
appointed
by
Nevada State
Treasurer
Brian Krolicki
to the
advisory group charged with assisting in creation of
the Nevada Statehood Quarter. Krolicki is Chairman of the 16-member
group.
The Statehood Quarter
coins are being produced in the order the states ratified the
Constitution and joined the union.
As the 36th state, Nevada's quarter
was released
in January 2006. |
